Tor Van Den Berge

Born in Sydney's North Richmond, Tor grew up on his parents breaking and training property. It was there that he developed his passion for horses. Tor has successfully competed to an international level, and is the winner of several Australian titles, both in open and young horse fields. He is most known for his partnerships with a number of competitive dressage horses, including the Grand Prix stallion Fishermans Friend, stable mates Lauries As, Donna Bonita and Lady Sinatra, Jaybee Alabaster, Florett, Karingal Anastasia and Remi Frangelica.

 

  Tor enjoys training horses through to Grand Prix, and has a reputation for his ability with difficult horses. Tor also spends a lot of his time teaching, and has a number of very successful students who are competitive across all Olympic disciplines.

Melissa Van Den Berge

Born in New Zealand, Mel grew up on QLD's Gold Coast and began riding at age 12. Mel had a keen interest in eventing early on, and spent the first part of her riding career as an event rider. Mel was very successful up to three star level, with some super horses such as Chanel No 5 and Phantom Stealth. A member of numerous State and National Eventing squads, Mel made the decision to turn her focus to the dressage arena after the birth of the first VDB child, Olivia. Since then, Mel has had great success nationally with horses such as Dornkaart, Leonardo Da Vinci, Remi Lady Locksley and Danciero. Mel enjoys teaching and has a real flair for test riding.

Catharina Matschurat

German born, Catharina travelled to Australia for her gap year working for Tor and Mel, and 8 years later is still here! Catharina is a half owner of team horse Cougar V, and rides and competes the stallions Elias C and Bryntawel Rememberance Day.

Kaitlin Dooney

Kaitlin came to work for Tor and Mel in her gap year after finishing Year 12, and 6 and a half years later she is still here! Kaitlin has successfully competed her Fishermand Friend gelding Remi First Fleet to Inter 1 level.

Matthew Lord

Matthew has been working for Team VDB for 5 years. Matt does a fantastic job with our young horses and more difficult ones, as well as having successfully competed to a national level. He is currently competing the Wilson owned Immenhof Scout in the Advanced classes.

Maddie Smith

Maddie has been with Team VDB for the past two years, since leaving high school. Maddie competed her previous horse to PSG level, but has recently purchased a talented 3yo mare by Worldly from Remi Stud who she plans to take through the levels.
